Roshan Dalvi
Justice Roshan Dalvi (Retd.) B. Com, LL.M. has been in the legal field for 47 years, 27 of them as Judge. She was appointed Judge, Bombay City Civil Court in September 1989, served as Principal Judge, Family Court, Mumbai from July to December 2004 and was elevated to the Bombay High Court in June 2005. She retired as a Bombay High Court Judge in November 2015.
She practices as Arbitrator, Mediator and Legal Consultant.
She studied Gender and Law in Warwick University, UK.
She was invited by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) to consider the protocol on the rights of children of sexual abuse.
She was granted a Fellowship in Peace and Conflict Resolution for Advanced Mediation and as such is a Rotary Peace Fellow.
She is the Fellow of the Commonwealth Judicial Education Institute, Halifax, Canada.
She was invited to give the keynote address on Gender Perspectives in the South Asia Conference of Wisconsin University, Madison, WI. USA.
She is a guest lecturer in the Tata Institute of Social Sciences in the Masters Programme on Access to justice.
She conducts workshops for Judges, lawyers, law students and law teachers on Gender Sensitization, Arbitration, Mediation, Human Rights, Case Management, Commercial Contracts, etc. in the National and State judicial Academies.
She has contributed articles on various subjects including Gender Justice, Human Trafficking, Firm Management, Conflict resolution and the Practice and Procedure of Arbitration.
She is the author of two books Tangible Justice setting out memories of her judicial life and Woman: Her Trials and Triumphs on gender perspectives in law and society.
